sport information
The bench press competition follows generally accepted international lifting standards, but the event is non-sanctioned, meaning it is not officially governed or affiliated with established powerlifting federations.
Competition takes place between lifters in categories defined by gender, bodyweight and age.
Each competitor is allowed three attempts, with the highest successful lift counting as their official result. No fourth attempts are permitted for record purposes. The winner in each category is the lifter who achieves the highest valid lift.
A weigh-in will be conducted the day prior to the start of the competition, with a late weigh-in conducted the morning of competition.
Event Entry Deadline: Sunday, 28 February 2027
Event Cost: $40

format
The Bench Press event is a three-round strength competition focused solely on the bench press. Athletes compete within defined weight, age, and gender categories under strict international-style competition standards.
At weigh-in, competitors declare their opening attempts, which determine the initial lifting order. Each lifter is allowed three attempts, with weights increasing each round under a progressive “rising bar” system. No fourth attempts are permitted for the setting of records. Lifting order is based on declared weight, with lighter attempts performed first.
Final rankings are based on the highest successful bench press lift. Each lifter’s best valid attempt is recorded as their official result, and competitors are ranked within their respective weight, age, and gender divisions accordingly.
