sport information
The Pocket Billiards competition is an individual, unisex event for athletes aged 18 and over. It features three separate disciplines.
Eight Ball
Eight Ball is a call-shot game played with a full rack of 15 balls divided into solids and stripes. Players must legally pocket their assigned group and then pocket the 8-ball to win. The game requires strategy, control, and tactical safety play, with the 8-ball only being played once all of a player’s group has been cleared.
Nine Ball
Nine Ball is a rotation game played with balls numbered 1 through 9. Players must always strike the lowest-numbered ball on the table first but can win the game by legally pocketing the 9-ball at any time through a valid combination or direct shot. Matches are fast-paced and emphasize shot-making and strategy.
Straight Pool (14.1)
Straight Pool is a continuous scoring game where any object ball can be pocketed in any order. Each legally pocketed ball scores one point, and players must call their intended shot. The game is typically played to a set point total, with players required to reach the target score through sustained runouts and precise positional play.
International rules will be followed unless otherwise specified in WPFG Guidelines.
All events are played in singles format only, with competitors participating individually rather than in teams. Players compete within each discipline according to standard rules of play, with performance determining progression and final ranking.
Each discipline will be completed within the same day.
Event Entry Deadline: Sunday, 28 February 2027
