The skeet events will be based on the American Skeet shooting discipline.

Competitors MUST be qualified (i.e. some type of formal training for safety purposes) with their firearms and familiar with range safety.

Attendance at scheduled practice and all range safety briefings are mandatory for all competitors.

events & divisions

Competitors will be classified in either A, B or C division based on the following criteria and in the following order:

Medal Winners in the Preceding WPFG:

If a competitor competed in Skeet events during the preceding WPFG and won a medal, the score for winning that medal will be used to determine the classification for that particular event in this WPFG. This only applies to the last preceding WPFG event only.

ISSF/NSSA Registered Targets:

Competitors who did not win a medal at the preceding WPFG Skeet events but have shot ISSF/NSSA registered targets will be classified based on the average of the last 1,000 registered targets in each of the Singles and Doubles disciplines.

Previous WPFG Classification:

Competitors who do not have a current ISSF/NSSA average card but have previously competed in the WPFG (going back 2 WPFG competitions) will be assigned to A, B or C Division based on their classification in the most recent WPFG skeet events.

Unclassified Competitors:

Competitors who do not have a current ISSF/NSSA average card or who have not previously competed in the WPFG will be assigned to A, B or C Division based on the following: Discarding the highest and lowest round scores and doubling the remaining rounds scores.

All individual events will be offered in “A”, “B”, “C” and Women’s Division. Female competitors may enter A, B, C or Women’s Division.

Female competitors shooting for the Skeet All Events Women’s Division must enter the Women’s Division in the individual events.

UNISEX

Teams may consist of all men, all women or any combination thereof

• A Division – 88 or higher

• B Division – 80 to 87.99

• C Division – below 80

Doubles event:

Classification will be based on the Doubles event score which will give the competitor a classification based on the Divisions listed above.

Team Event:

classification is based on the combination of the 5 team members’ classifications. Female competitors who are part of a Team will be classified as A Division, B Division, or C Division for the purposes of determining the team classification only.

Competition Format

SKEET INDIVIDUAL EVENTS

Each competitor attempts 4 rounds of Skeet Singles (25 targets/round), with a maximum break time of 5 minutes between rounds.

SKEET DOUBLES EVENTS

Each competitor attempts 2 rounds of Skeet Doubles (50 targets/round), with a maximum break time of 5 minutes between rounds.

UNISEX TEAM EVENTS

Team events are based on the combination of the five team members’ individual scores. To be eligible for the team event, competitors must be registered in the corresponding individual event. Team rosters must be registered and identified prior to the start of shooting.

SKEET ALL EVENTS

is the combination of both Skeet Individual events’ scores.

HIGH OVERALL

is the combination of all shotgun individual events’ scores:

• Skeet (2 individual events)

• Sporting Clays (1 individual event)

• Trap (3 individual events)

To be eligible for this award, the competitor must be entered into the 6 individual events and also be entered into this “HIGH OVERALL” category in Sporting Clays.

Medals are awarded for individuals placing first through third within the classifications.

Awards ceremonies will take place at the conclusion of the match. Exact times TBC.

equipment

Competitors MUST use only equipment (firearms, accessories, ammunition, devices) and apparel that comply with ISSF/NSSA rules. The competitor is responsible for submitting all equipment and apparel for official inspection and approval to a WPFG Equipment Inspector prior to competition.

Competitors are responsible for supplying firearms and ammunition.  Australian law restricts the importation of some firearm types & ammunition into Australia, even for the purposes of a sporting competition. Prohibited firearms will be seized and forfeited by border officials. Perth 2027 will assist all competitors with the import, export and required to enter Australia and the temporary licensing paperwork for Western Australia.

 

Ear & Eye Protection

Competitors MUST supply their own ear and eye protection. It is mandatory for ear and eye protection to be worn during shooting. Eye protection, in the form of shatterproof shooting glasses or similar is to be worn. Earmuffs, ear plugs or protectors, passive or electronic must be worn. Apple Air-pods and similar earbuds are not adequate ear protection unless custom moulded to provide hearing protection. Earbuds specifically designed to offer hearing protection are acceptable.

 

Clothing

All shooting jackets, trousers and gloves must be made of flexible material that does not materially change its physical characteristics, that is, become stiffer, thicker or harder, under commonly accepted shooting conditions. All lining, padding and reinforcements must meet the same specifications. Any lining or padding must not be quilted, cross-stitched, glued or otherwise affixed to the outer clothing layer other than at normal tailoring points. All lining or padding must be measured as a part of the clothing.

 

Shoes must be worn on the range. Open toe or open heeled shoes, sandals or any other similar footwear are not allowed. Normal street type or light athletic shoes are permitted. Special shooting shoes must comply with ISSF footwear rules, including the mandatory shoe sole flexibility test.

 

Camouflage clothing of any nature is prohibited from being worn on any range.

 

 

FIREARMS

Shotguns:

A competitor shall not use a shotgun whose chamber is larger than 12-gauge or a shotgun without a shoulder stock. Competitors must use a shotgun capable of firing two shots for the Doubles event. Shotgun barrels must be a minimum of 26”. Please note semi-auto shotguns are classified as a Category C firearm and must have a capacity of five rounds or less. Please reach out to the Perth 2027 team for further assistance with semi-auto shotgun requirements.

Ammunition will be available for purchase by competitors prior to competition, further information will be provided after registration. Reloaded ammunition is acceptable, provided it meets ISSF/NSSA specifications. Only shotgun shells with the following characteristics are allowed:

• 2-3/4” in length;

• Maximum shot weight of 1 ounce;

• Shot size of 7.5 to 9;

• Lead shot only;

• Maximum velocity of 1,350 fps (7/8 oz), 1,325 fps (1 oz), or 1,290 fps (1-1/8 oz).

This venue is serviced by a dedicated WPFG Shuttle. 

 

Use your free public transport to get to Ballajura Train Station.  

 

From there multiple WPFG Shuttles will run throughout the day getting you to and from Whiteman Park International Shooting Complex.
