sport information
The Competition is planned for boat-based fishing, however, if weather conditions restrict safe boating activities (+1.5M swell and/or +15knots wind) a shore-based fishing competition will be enforced and announced prior to the morning start.
Where possible local boat anglers will be paired with tournament anglers to provide boat fishing opportunities.
Strict adherence of all rules is expected by all competitors.
Competitors MUST supply their own fishing equipment suitable for the type of angling being held.
Tuesday, 16 March Mandatory briefing will be held at Hillarys Yacht Club to explain, demonstrate and assist competitors with rule interpretation, the species of fish to be caught and to define the fishing area and any off-limits areas.
Friday, 19 March will be used as a contingency day for any adverse weather conditions.
The competition will be determined by the weight of fish that could be legally taken under Western Australian Fisheries Law.
For competition the following six (6) species will be weighed:
- Whiting
- King George Whiting
- Herring
- Flathead
- Skipjack
- Leatherjacket
