Two Smallbore matches are offered, both utilising electronic targets:

  • English match – ISSF 50 metre, prone, 60 shot match.
  • 3P match – ISSF 50 metre, Three Position (3P) 3×20 shot match.

 

Attendance at scheduled practice and all range safety briefings is mandatory for all competitors.

Competitors are responsible for supplying their own firearms and ammunition that comply with Western Australian Regulations – Please see the athlete entry book for more information.

Competitors are responsible for payment of all practice / Pre Event Training (PET) fees to the venue directly. The PET fees and process will be advised closer to the event.

Competition Format

Meyton Electronic Scoring targets in integer (full ring) scoring mode will be utilised for both matches.

English match – ISSF 50 metre, prone, 60 shot match. 15-minute preparation and sighting stage, followed by a record fire stage of 50 minutes.

3P match – ISSF 50 metre, three position 3×20 shot match. A combined 15-minute preparation and sighting time will be provided, followed immediately by the courses of fire, in order, kneeling, prone & standing. 20 shots will be fired in each position, to equal a total of 60 competition shots. Shooting time is 90 minutes.

 

After competitors complete the kneeling and prone positions, changing from MATCH to sighting and back to MATCH is the responsibility of the competitor. Competitors may fire unlimited sighting shots before starting MATCH firing shots in the prone and standing positions. No additional time is allowed for these sighting shots. If a competitor inadvertently fails to switch from MATCH to sighting after changing positions, any shots recorded as extra shots in the previous position must be nullified and the target must be reset to sighting.

Medals are awarded for competitors placing first through third within the classifications.

Awards ceremonies will take place at the conclusion of each match, at the competition venue. Exact times are to be confirmed.

 

EQUIPMENT

Competitors MUST use only equipment (firearms, accessories, ammunition, devices) and apparel that comply with ISSF rules. The competitor is responsible for submitting all equipment and apparel for official inspection and approval to a WPFG Equipment Inspector prior to competition.

 

Rifles

All rifles chambered for rimfire 5.6mm (.22” cal.) long rifle cartridges are permitted. 50m rifles should have the general appearance as per ISSF rule 6.8.13 and should only have one set of sights, buttstock, palm-rest or extendable fore-end etc., may be fitted to a rifle at a time. This does not prevent these items being swapped during any stage of competition. In addition:

a) The weight of the rifle for men and women may not exceed 8.0kg with all accessories used, including the palm rest and hand stop.

b) Weights on or in the lower part of the stock or buttstock, may not extend horizontally (laterally) further from the centreline of the barrel than the distance of the maximum extension of the cheek-piece from the centreline of the barrel.

c) Weights cannot extend further to the rear than a line perpendicular to the deepest point in the butt-plate.

d) Weights attached to the buttstock must be rigidly attached and may not be taped to the buttstock.

e) Weights on the rifle fore-end may extend no lower than 90mm below the centreline of the barrel and not further forward than 700mm from the back (rear) end of the system; Any such weight must be incapable of being converted into a bipod for use in supporting the rifle, when placed down after shooting or between positions in the 3P match.

f) The lowest point on the buttstock may not extend down more than 140mm from the centreline of the bore. This limit does not apply to wooden stocked rifles.

Only one rifle is allowed to be used per one event. The action, barrel and stock may not be exchanged, except that a detachable buttstock may be exchanged. Accessories attached to the action, barrel or stock may be exchanged.

 

Ammunition

Ammunition will be available for purchase by competitors prior to competition, further information will be provided after registration. .22 Long Rifle, standard velocity rim fire cartridges with projectiles made out of lead or similar soft material.

 

Ear & Eye Protection

Competitors MUST supply their own ear and eye protection. It is mandatory for ear and eye protection to be worn during shooting. Eye protection, in the form of shatterproof shooting glasses or similar is to be worn. Earmuffs, ear plugs or protectors, passive or electronic must be worn. Apple Air-pods and similar earbuds are not adequate ear protection unless custom moulded to provide hearing protection. Earbuds specifically designed to offer hearing protection are acceptable.

 

Clothing

All shooting jackets, trousers and gloves must be made of flexible material that does not materially change its physical characteristics, that is, become stiffer, thicker or harder, under commonly accepted shooting conditions. All lining, padding and reinforcements must meet the same specifications. Any lining or padding must not be quilted, cross-stitched, glued or otherwise affixed to the outer clothing layer other than at normal tailoring points. All lining or padding must be measured as a part of the clothing.

Shoes must be worn on the range. Open toe or open heeled shoes, sandals or any other similar footwear are not allowed. Normal street type or light athletic shoes are permitted. Special shooting shoes can be worn in the 3P match but must comply with ISSF footwear rules, including the mandatory shoe sole flexibility test. Special shooting shoes must not be worn in the English match (prone match).

Camouflage clothing of any nature is prohibited from being worn on any range.

 

Kneeling Roll

Only one cylindrically shaped roll is allowed for shooting in the kneeling position. The dimensions are a maximum of 25cm long and 18cm in diameter. It must be made of soft and flexible material. Binding or other devices to shape the roll are not permitted.

 

Bipods

Bipods may be used to support the rifle before and after shooting or during position changes, but bipods, whether fixed or folding, must be removed from the rifle during all MATCH firing times.

This venue is serviced by the Whiteman Park Precinct WPFG Shuttle. 

 

Use your free public transport to get to Ballajura Train Station.  

 From there multiple WPFG Shuttles will run throughout the day getting you to and from Whiteman Park International Shooting Complex.
