sport information
Triathlon will be offered in Individual and team events.
Teams must choose a team captain who will attend the Team Briefing as scheduled above.
Triathlon events will run in the following order:
Swim
Athletes will complete an ocean 1.5km (0.93 mile) Open Water course.
Rules surrounding wetsuit usage is governed by World Triathlon’s Competition Rules (page 41). Differing based on temperature and age.
Cycle
Comprised of a 40km (24.85 mile) closed road course.
No drafting is allowed; a participant is not permitted to position their bicycle in the proximity of another moving vehicle or competitor to benefit from reduced air resistance.
Athletes must provide and wear an approved helmet for the cycling component of the Triathlon.
Run
Athletes will run a 10km (6.21 mile) measured course.

Mixed teams must be made up of at least 1 Man and 1 Woman.
format
COMPETITION FORMAT
The Triathlon is a timed event where athletes will be timed against others in their designated category.
Each team will have 1 team wristband which must be passed from 1 team member to another as the relay progresses. Winning teams will be those whose runners cross the finish line first.
Team competitors may only compete in one of the three segments of the Triathlon.
awards
Medals are awarded to athletes placing first through third in each division.
Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 21 March 2027 following competition, at the venue.
getting there
This venue is serviced by the dedicated Joondalup Precinct WPFG Shuttle.
Walk or use your free public transport to get to Elizabeth Quay Bus Station.
From there dedicated WPFG Shuttles will convey you to and from Tom Simpson Park, Mullaloo.
Departure and return times will be aligned to sport timings.
Bikes will be conveyed separately from The Games Hub by the Games Team on specialised trailers.
